Sofia Yilin Wu is an emerging composer for film and video games, currently pursuing a master’s degree in Screen Scoring at the University of Southern California. Her multidisciplinary background encompasses classical piano performance, opera performance, musicology, music education, music therapy, and composition. She maintains a strong interest in video games, animation, musical theatre, and live music, drawing inspiration from the storytelling methods, theatrical expression, and musical languages of different artistic media.

Her creative and collaborative experience extends across multiple disciplines. She has participated in several Game Jams, as well as theatrical productions, orchestral and operatic performances, and traditional Chinese music performances. These varied experiences have strengthened her ability to communicate with performers and fellow creators, understand the production needs of different projects, and approach the relationship between music and storytelling from multiple perspectives. Her major works include the orchestral scores Through the Emerald Peaks and Machine’s Core, Drenched By Storm, as well as Darkness Final Battle. In addition to composing, she is interested in orchestration and contemporary compositional techniques. Her academic writing includes A Study of Orchestration in “Wood” from Chen Qigang’s Orchestral Suite Wu Xing.

Her diverse academic and creative experiences have shaped her strong melodic sensitivity, dramatic expression, and deep understanding of the relationship between music, emotion, and storytelling. Her work encompasses electronic music, traditional orchestral writing, lyrical music, and scores for suspenseful and historical narratives. She is especially skilled at incorporating elements of Chinese music into her work. Through memorable melodies, nuanced atmospheres, and dramatic musical development, she seeks to express the unspoken emotions of characters and build vivid, meaningful worlds in the minds of audiences and players.

吴怡霖（Sofia Yilin Wu），青年作曲家、影视与游戏音乐创作者，现于美国南加州大学攻读影视配乐硕士学位。她拥有多元的专业背景，学习经历涵盖古典钢琴演奏、歌剧表演、音乐学、音乐教育、音乐疗愈与作曲。她长期关注游戏、动画、音乐剧与现场音乐表演，并从不同艺术媒介的叙事方式、舞台表达与音乐语言中汲取灵感，持续拓展自身的艺术视野。

她拥有丰富且跨领域的创作与合作经验，曾多次参加 Game Jam，并参与舞台剧、管弦乐、歌剧及中国民乐演出。不同类型的实践经历提升了她与演奏者及其他创作者的沟通能力，使她能够理解不同项目的制作需求，并从多重角度思考音乐与叙事的关系。她的主要作品包括管弦乐配乐《风过苍山》（Through the Emerald Peaks）、《机械之心，风雨浸淋》（Machine’s Core, Drenched By Storm）及《黑暗终局对决》（Darkness Final Battle）。除音乐创作外，她亦关注管弦乐配器与当代作曲技法研究，曾撰写《陈其钢管弦乐组曲〈五行·木〉的配器思维研究》。
