Noah Straus is a Los Angeles based composer, guitarist, and passionate musician. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Screen Scoring at the USC Thornton School of Music.

Noah’s love of music is matched by his deep knowledge of and passion for film. His musical journey began at an early age, shaped by the jazz that played constantly in his childhood home and by regular visits to the Hollywood Bowl. There, he experienced performances by the Los Angeles Philharmonic under Gustavo Dudamel, as well as appearances by renowned guest conductors and composers such as Maestro John Williams.

Noah began playing piano at age five and transitioned to jazz guitar at 14, a discovery that helped shape his artistic identity. While attending The Claremont Colleges, he studied composition through the Pomona College Music Department under esteemed composers Thomas Flaherty and Igor Santos, exploring both classical and electronic composition.

As an active member of the Claremont music community, Noah performed as a guitarist with the Pomona College Jazz Ensemble and led additional musical groups on campus. His compositions have been performed by fellow musicians, and he has scored short films and written music for numerous college events. He also participated in the Port Townsend Centrum Jazz Summer Program, where he performed at its jazz festival with a small ensemble.

In November 2025, Noah became the youngest person elected to the board of the Los Angeles Jazz Society.

Noah graduated from Pitzer College, a member of The Claremont Colleges, in May 2026 with a Bachelor of Arts in Media Scoring and a minor in philosophy.
