Howzit! My name is Thomas Yamada, and I’m a media (film, TV, video game) and concert composer from Hawaii. I graduated from Chapman University with a degree in Music Composition and a minor in Film Music, where I scored numerous projects of varying genres for the Dodge College of Film and Media Arts. Other student filmmaker collaborations include NYU, Stanford, and LMU.

Recent projects include scoring the winning Coca-Cola Refreshing Films commercial, “Ticket to Everywhere”, which is screening nationwide and in Canada in AMC, B&B, and Cinemark theaters, and conducting and recording an orchestra at Hollywood Scoring for a Dodge animated thesis. I also completed an internship as a music librarian at Warner Bros. Discovery, where I gained insight into the inner workings of the music department at a large media company.

When I write for the screen, it’s essential that I understand all aspects of the plot. Through this, I aim to leave a lasting impression through musical storytelling. I always aim to go beyond surface-level emotions to intertwine the music with the picture.
