Hi I am Markus, good to meet you!

For me, music is magic. It is a spell that captivates heart and mind, gives a story a soul and moves us deep inside. It is a superpower that can make or break a film.

And with great power comes great responsibility. I love to dig deep into the story, understand every emotional nuance, so I can write the best possible music that will give it depth and truly elevate your idea. I listen carefully, ask many questions and do my research before I start writing.

I have loved music and storytelling all my life, started composing at age 8 and had my first composition publicly performed at age 10. Growing up in Germany I was strongly influenced by European culture, movies and music but also love many of the great American film composers. Musically I’m comfortable across a wide range of styles, from intimate, minimal textures to large-scale orchestral scores, as well as electronic sound design and hybrid approaches that blend both worlds. I love all stages of the process - composition, production and engineering, with hands-on experience recording live orchestras, session musicians, vocalists, and working entirely in the box when needed.

Before USC, I studied film scoring, orchestration, and songwriting at Berklee College of Music.

Please take a listen to my work on this page, and/or visit my website or my Instagram.

I’d love to be part of your vision of taking your audience to another world that will profoundly move them. Looking forward to hearing about your project and bringing your dream to life!
