Hi, my name is Hubert, thank you for your interest in my work!

I have been fascinated by cinema for as long as I can remember. My parents are both huge movie fans, and particularly Sergio Leone's. They taught me how to watch a movie within its inner mechanisms and how to fully analyze and appreciate it. As they saw my eagerness to discover more and more movies, they made me discover every genre of cinema. In the meantime, I began playing the piano and made the connections between the amazing scores I could discover throughout movies and the instrument I was practising with. Leone’s movies served as my introduction to Ennio Morricone’s music, setting off a journey that quickly expanded to include the exceptional compositions of John Williams, Thomas Newman, and more. At that point, I understood as I continued being fascinated by cinema and playing the piano that I wanted to merge those two universes which are so close to my heart and that I wanted to dedicate my life to becoming a film composer.

Since then, I have been willing to tell stories through music, and because cinema is so important to me, having my music enhance the storytelling of a movie is my main purpose. In this process of becoming a film composer, I have been working with and for award-winning composer Yves Gourmeur as an assistant (co-composition, instruments recording, scores writing, ... Through this experience, I have learned how to work on a larger scale, and on bigger and professional projects. I also scored few video games that are yet to be released. Meeting other professionals in this sector - Lawrence Shragge, Patrick Kirst, Tim Starnes, ... - made me even more sure of who I want to become and how eager I want to improve. In order to deepen my knowledge and my skills in the best way, I attended in summer 2023 a Film Scoring Intensive Program at La Accademia Chigiana in Sienna, Italy.

As a composer, what I am fascinated by, is the storytelling behind movies and more precisely the aspects that the movies do not show. If I were to define what truly drives me in screen scoring, it would be the willingness to go beyond the characters, to go beyond the script. The ability to deliver to the spectator a new way of looking at and understating a movie in its whole. To renew their experience and to bring them on a deeper level. I highly value diversity in terms of movie genres as I think that as a spectator, every genre is another way of experiencing a movie, and as a composer, I hold embracing versatility is pivotal in achieving greatness within the field. I seek to work as a member of a team, to be part of something bigger. To collaborate and reinforce my skills through peer learning. Having a common goal and achieving it with the people I will be working with is something I am dedicated to and looking forward to accomplishing.
