BIO
Gautier Galard is an award-winning film composer, whose films have been screened and awarded in numerous film festivals around the world such as Cannes, Los Angeles, Beijing, New Orleans, Sarajevo, Rhode Island, Annecy, Sheffield, Newport Beach, Turin, ...
His approach to film music is not only based on the musical side, but also on the different elements that compose a story. His work focuses primarily on characters and emotions, which he finds the core of any film.
He was trained as a classical piano and percussion player allowing him to perform in several recitals and concerto. After attending the Musical Acoustics, Musical Analysis and Orchestration courses at the prestigious Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris and the Berklee College of Music of Boston (online courses), and after collaborating with several directors from La Fémis, Paris, he enrolled in 2010 the highly-selective National Film and Television School / Royal College of Art in United Kingdom, giving him a Master of Art in Composing for Film and Television, then the world-leading program in film scoring: the Scoring for Motion Pictures and Television program at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles from which he has been graduated summa cum laude in May 2013.
In 2008, he co-created, with Laetizia Amoroso and Aurélie Martin, a film music composer association, PlaGal Creative, which allow him to build the essential music crew needed for a cinema post production. In addition to the composition side, the core idea of this team is to be able to bring together each talent involved in the film music process, from the music editor to the music recordist and mixer.
He also debuted his work for concert music in November 2010 with Reminiscences, premiered at Notre-Dame de Paris. In September 2011, he has been awarded a grant by the SACEM (French equivalent of BMI) for film composition.
