Erick Schroder

Hello. My name is Erick Schroder and I am a composer originally from San Diego, California. I have been playing the piano for 21 years which is where I got my musical start and spent much of that time accompanying for musical theatre productions. I have diverse experience in composing for the multimedia field. My compositions have ranged from whole orchestral pieces to solo pieces. Thus far, I have been commissioned to write for various short films, pc games, and iPhone and iPad games.
I am thrilled with the opportunity to be studying film scoring at USC. Given that the SMPTV and Cinematic Arts programs as USC are so renowned, I am looking forward to the collaboration that occurs between the two of them. One of the aspects of composing that I most enjoy is the time spent with a director in order to develop or support a vision for a project. As a film composer, it is my job to help film directors tell their story. It is only through this joint collaboration that a film can truly shine.
Some directors I admire are: Stephen Spielberg, the Coen Brothers, Brad Bird, Alfred Hitchcock, David Fincher, and Robert Zemeckis.
Composers I most enjoy and find inspirational in my own writing include: Michael Giacchino, Alan Silvestri, John Debney, Christopher Young, Alan Menken, and James Newton Howard.
I enjoy grabbing a good cup of coffee or a beer, so let's get together and talk about your project.
