Benjamin Young

Benjamin Young is a composer from St. Louis, Missouri whose experience has included composing for games, independent student films, TV, and conducting his own classical works, as well as working for A-list composers on A-list projects.
Ben completed his Bachelor of Music in Composition in 2012 at Webster University in St. Louis, studying counterpoint, orchestration, academic composition and music theory. He became proficient in the technical aspects of music production through upper level classes in Websters Department of Audio Aesthetics and Technology. Ben has scored over 20 short films and over a dozen online video games, and has had the honor of working with the fantastically talented filmakers at both USC and Webster as well as with video game companies like Armor Games.
For four summers Ben worked in LA in several aspects of the industry. Ben interned for The Music Collective, a music production house and music library, for a summer. The following summer he was brought on as a staff composer at The Music Collective, and the next summer, he went freelance. Ben has over 500 cues registered with TMC and has had his music in a number of TV shows, including Lockup and Lockup Extended Stay on MSNBC, Forensic Files on Tru TV and Whats Eating You? On E!
This past summer Ben interned at Hans Zimmers Remote Control Productions, doing copyist work and customer service for Remote Control clients, employees and tenants.
Ben most enjoys the ongoing collaboration that occurs with a film director or game developer that musically brings a project to life. He is honored to have been accepted into the SMPTV program at USC and is very much looking forward to all that it has to offer.
