Juan was born in Bogota, Colombia. He started playing guitar at age 13 and quickly became interested in progressive rock and metal, playing in a few local bands while still in high school. He attended the Universidad Javeriana and majored in Jazz Guitar, while there he began playing for several pop artist, including Maia, Compania & Limitada and Grammy award winner \'Fonseca\' for whom he toured and recorded constantly for 9 years. In 2006 he taught at the Escuela de Musica Fernando Sor and In 2008 moved to New York to study Flamenco Guitar, that same year scored a short film from director Pablo Garcia for the Discovery Channel. Over the years Juan has developed a profound interest in film scoring and can write in a great variety of styles from world music to orchestral.
