Andrew Prahlow

Andrew Prahlow is a Los Angeles, CA based composer raised in St. Louis, MO. Andrew has scored over 20 independent short films and most recently scored the Sony Playstation miniseries, Platinum\'d. He has recently joined Jeremy Zuckerman and Benjamin Wynn to help write the score for Kung Fu Panda: The Legends of Awesomeness and The Last Airbender: The Legend of Korra. Andrew has also done studio work for the composer John Powell, known for the Bourne series, Shrek, and How to Train Your Dragon.
Andrew also has an extensive songwriting background, producing, recording, and performing songs featured in indie short films, as well as producing multiple indie rock, pop, and hip-hop albums from Columbus, OH to St. Louis, MO. His musical expertise has not only been used in film and album production, but also in media. Andrew has also written a variety of jingles for many indie projects, including KWLC radio of Decorah, IA.
Andrew Prahlow attended the Scoring For Motion Pictures and Television (SMPTV) graduate/professional program at the University of Southern California. Throughout the academic year, Andrew had the opportunity to attend master classes lead by Harry Gregson-Williams, Theodore Shapiro, and Edward Shearmur. He also was taught by Garry Schyman and Christopher Young. While attending the program, Andrew studied independently with the composer, conductor, and orchestrators Eric Schmidt and Jack Smalley.
Andrew received a Bachelor of Arts in Music degree at Luther College and played principal trumpet in the Luther College Symphony Orchestra, studying under Dr. Richard Tirk and Dr. Brooke Joyce. Andrew also studied independently with the composer Jeff Kurtenacker and was a winner of a Luther College Summer Research Grant, specializing in film music. He also attended the Capital University Conservatory of Music in Columbus, OH for music technology and trumpet performance studying under Dr. James Stokes. During the Spring of 2010, many of his orchestral works were played at The Orchestral Works of Andrew Prahlow concert, live at Luther College.
