Upon graduating from the Berklee College of Music, Deon worked as an assistant composer in Los Angeles. In 2008, he was given the opportunity to score his first feature called "1895" (English title: 1895 in Formosa) which made its way to the international box office.

Born in Seoul and raised in Tokyo, I have been widely exposed to a variety of musical influences while growing up in different cultures and don't consider myself to be bound by any specific genre. My music is often simple, lyrical, and conveys a strong emotional feeling. I find passion from Ennio Morricone and John Barry because of the deep and emotional qualities in their music. Furthermore, I admire the works of Harry Gregson-Williams, Christopher Young, John Debney, John Powell, Jon Brion, John Williams, Joe Hisaishi, and Philip Glass.
