Jack Smalley

A founding member of the scoring program's faculty in the mid-1980s, Professor Emeritus Jack Smalley taught here until health challenges forced his retirement in 2015. Our beloved Jack remains as frustrated about that cessation as do we, his admiring colleagues.

Jack's contribution to the USC scoring program cannot possibly be summarized here, but we are pleased and proud to publicly sing his praises. As a combined composer, songwriter, orchestrator, collaborator, teacher, and mentor, Jack Smalley is without peer, and his influence continues to bring luster to us all.
