Professor Emeritus Jack Smalley (1927-2019) was an important founding member of the scoring program, where he continued to teach for over 30 years. Jack’s contributions cannot possibly be summarized here, but we are pleased and proud to publicly sing his praises. As a combined composer, songwriter, orchestrator, teacher, poet, and mentor, Jack Smalley was peerless and fearless. His gracious wit, profound wisdom, and generous friendship remain imbedded in the memories of hundreds of grateful and admiring students and collaborators.
