JR is an LA native, who got their start in 'the biz' at a young age. They began playing violin at the age of four, and were featured a year later performing on the TV show, "Full House" (the clip is on their website). After attending the Los Angeles County High School of the Arts, they studied music and psychology at Bennington College in Vermont. They also spent a year abroad in Ireland, learning fiddle and drinking lots of beer (no, not Guinness). Recently, they completed UCLA Extension's film scoring program. Aside from film, they have written music for numerous dance projects and theatrical plays, including Altarcations, which premiered at the Hollywood Fringe Festival in 2013. JR loves listening to the big Hollywood scores, but their preference is to write for unusual instruments and smaller ensembles.
