Zak Millman is a film composer and conductor from New York currently based in Los Angeles. He holds a Bachelor's of Music in Music Composition (cum laude) from New York University, where he studied with David Spear, Justin Dello Joio and Steven Rosenhaus. His orchestra piece Orion and Sirius was selected for a 2013 reading and recording by the NYU Symphony Orchestra. His music has also been performed by the NYU Percussion Ensemble and the NYU Composer's Ensemble, as well as by various chamber groups throughout New York.

His musical influences are greatly diverse, and depending on the day he can be caught discussing and analyzing Brahms, Sondheim, Brian Wilson, John Williams, Bernard Herrmann, Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath with equal interest.

As a composer, he views music as a form of storytelling and connection. Whether or not there is a literal story to tell, at its core, music is communication with an audience. Add a film with a literal story to that mindset, and music becomes a very powerful tool to connect story to viewer. To that end, he is thrilled to be spending the year at USC, and very excited to work on the incredible films that will be coming out of the school this year.
